Rangers have ‘officially’ lost out on getting a proper sporting director. Many supporters can see how badly this lack of vision has backfired. Kevin Thelwell has failed to inspire trust or deliver results, while Weir shone wonderfully at Brighton. Rangers fans look at what he achieved there and wonder what could have been. The contrast could not be more brutal as Rangers lose David Weir.

David Weir built a modern football structure at Brighton that made them millions. He helped sign players like Caicedo and Mitoma, turning raw potential into elite quality. His scouting network found value where others saw risk. Most importantly, he worked with stability and long-term vision. That model delivered consistent success and sustainable growth. Rangers by comparison have none of that. Recruitment under Thelwell has been scattergun and unconvincing. He spoke in buzzwords while results were crumbling on the pitch. Fans see through it.
