It is always brilliant when a former player like Wayne Rooney shows his love and appreciation for this generation of footballers.

While the 40-year-old used to be a thorn in the side of Liverpool fans, primarily at Manchester United but also Everton, the player clearly has respect for the Reds in many of his interviews.

Though the Englishman has been one of the most vocal critics of Arne Slot’s recent form, as he singled out Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk as the one duo ‘affecting’ Liverpool during the nightmare run.
