Crystal Palace’s Jefferson Lerma has entered direct contact with Vasco da Gama, according to NTVascainos in Brazil. The outlet reports that Fernando Diniz personally called the Colombian midfielder to discuss a possible move to Rio de Janeiro.

During the conversation, Carlos Cuesta, Lerma’s teammate with Colombia, also took part. He reportedly praised Diniz’s work, the club’s management, and the passion of Vasco’s fans, helping to build a positive image of the project.

Lerma has struggled for playing time at Crystal Palace this season, which has left him worried about his place at the 2026 World Cup. He knows a return to South America would require a salary adjustment, but he is open to considering it if it guarantees more minutes on the pitch.

The midfielder’s contract with Palace runs until June 2026, and talks are ongoing between his camp and Vasco. The Brazilian side believe the addition of a player like Lerma could lift the team’s level and strengthen their midfield for next season.
