Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a surprise move to bring a former Manchester United star back to the Premier League.

There has been plenty of debate about Tottenham’s double pivot of Rodrigo Bentancur and Joao Palhinha, with some Spurs fans feeling that the duo do not offer enough going forward.

However, Thomas Frank is clearly a big fan of Palhinha and Bentancur, and it is difficult to argue with the Dane’s selections, given the Lilywhites’ defensive record this season.

It has now emerged that the North Londoners are turning their attention to another energetic and physical midfielder, who is making waves in Serie A.

TEAMtalk claim that Spurs are now eyeing a move for Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay, who has taken his game to a different level since his switch to Italy.

The 28-year-old was a much-maligned figure during the end of his time at Old Trafford, but he has flourished since his move to Naples, being one of the driving forces behind the club’s Scudetto triumph last season.

This has not gone unnoticed at Tottenham, who are now looking to bring McTominay back to the Premier League.
