Chelsea rode their luck on Wednesday night as they edged past Wolves in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The Blues, who will take on Cardiff City away from home in mid-December in the quarter-final of the competition, were cruising up until the half-time break with the majority of those inside Molineux voicing their discontent with what they saw from the hosts, not only on the night but since the start of the campaign.

However, there was a fightback from Wolves in the second period and some lapse defending from Chelsea helped inspire the home side. The tie ended 4-3 in the Blues’ favour, with Liam Delap’s late red card undoubtedly the talking point.

Delap picked up two yellow cards in the space of seven minutes and will now miss Saturday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham. While there were a few negatives to point out from the win, there were also numerous positives from a Chelsea perspective.
