Claudio Echeverri arrived at Manchester City in January, a year after they agreed a deal with River Plate.

The attacking midfielder’s playing time under Pep Guardiola was restricted. Last summer, Manchester City sent him on loan to Bayern Leverkusen, and the move hasn’t gone well so far.

Echeverri has played 127 minutes from six matches, of which 49 were in the Bundesliga. Kasper Hjulmand replaced Erik ten Hag in September and hasn’t selected the Argentine in the league for over a month.

Last week, TyC Sports reported Echeverri is struggling to adapt to the European football.

Echeverri took to Instagram to share a photo from his time at River Plate, kissing their badge. He also used hourglass, a red heart and back arrow emojis on the post. This was seen as a transfer hint, leading to speculation of his possible return to the South American club.
