Mikel Arteta faces the media ahead of Arsenal’s League Cup clash with Brighton. The Emirates Stadium played host to a similar meeting in the same competition back in 2022 which the Spaniard suffered a damaging 3-1 home defeat.

With a far stronger squad to face the Seagulls this time around, who will still feature one of the goalscorers from that day, Danny Welbeck, hopes of progression have almost reached a formality feeling for fans. Arteta will however be taking nothing for granted especially with the volume of injuries they have suffered.

There are as many as eight players potentially suffering with injuries, with Arteta expected to provide an update following the win over Crystal Palace. Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli, Riccardo Calafiori and William Saliba all suffered knocks in the game.
