Now we’re talking. Sunderland’s remarkable Premier League victory at Chelsea was a defining moment for the club and a statement that shouted: ‘We Belong’.

We’ve had Tommy Watson at Wembley, Dan Ballard against Coventry at the Stadium of Light and now Chemsdine Talbi at Stamford Bridge.

Goals that will be talked about for a very long time.

OK there have been others this season both home and away and Eliezer Mayenda’s Premier League opener against West Ham was up there.

But a goal deep into stoppage time in west London was a defining moment and judging by the reaction of the Mackem fans in the Shed End behind the goal, they thought so too.

They lifted the lid off the stadium and broke into a now familiar chant of ‘we are staying up’. At this rate they will be doing it with three months to spare.
