Sheffield Wednesday could still face more points deductions this season for further regulation breaches, talkSPORT understands.

The Owls went into administration on Friday and were hit by a 12-point deduction by the English Football League (EFL).

Wednesday, whose financial problems under Dejphon Chansiri reached crisis point in the summer, were placed under various embargoes amid tax debts and failing to pay players and staff on time.

A points deduction leaves the Championship’s rock bottom side on minus six, and 13 points adrift.

talkSPORT understands there have been further breaches made by the club that have yet to be met with charges.

This could mean further points deductions, but any punishment will be handed out in the 2025/26 season.
