William Saliba was substituted for Arsenal at half-time against Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash against Crystal Palace, and Mikel Arteta has revealed the reason why.

Eberechi Eze’s goal ensured Arsenal got the victory, but Saliba and Rice’s substitutions were a major concern for Arsenal fans and Mikel Arteta alike after the game’s conclusion.

Saliba was forced off at halftime of Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace due to an apparent injury, with Cristian Mosquera taking his place.

Rice, on the other hand, lasted 82 minutes, with Mikel Merino taking his place after going to ground and being assessed by Arsenal staff.

The Arsenal boss has now issued an update on the pair.

Speaking after the Arsenal against Crystal Palace clash to Sky Sports, Arteta said the following about substituting Saliba.

He said: “William Saliba felt some pain. Declan [Rice] was the same.”

A brief update from the Spaniard, but more will surely follow on the Arsenal duo in due course.

Despite the injury woes for the pair, and potentially Gabriel Martinelli, Arteta was happy with the Gunners’ performance as a whole.
