Tottenham need to be proactive in the January transfer window if Thomas Frank wants his team to compete on all four fronts this season. Despite a recent dip in form, the Lilywhites are far from a poor position in the league. They sit just a point outside the Premier League’s top four and look well on course to challenge for European qualification as the campaign progresses.

That said, the North London club must bring in reinforcements to strengthen the squad for the second half of the season. The first priority for Spurs should be to add depth in midfield, particularly by finding a reliable cover for Joao Palhinha in the #6 role. The Portuguese international has been one of Tottenham’s standout performers this season, but if Frank’s men are to compete seriously on all fronts, they need stronger rotational options in the middle of the park.
