Kevin Thelwell has been under major criticism for signing Youssef Chermiti at Rangers.

Thelwell has made several high-profile own goals at Rangers, since taking over as sporting director in Govan, including hiring his own son as recruitment chief.

However, the £8.5million swoop to bring the ex-Everton ace to Rangers may be the worst decision of them all.

Thelwell has been subjected to intense pressure over his future at Ibrox, but it seems like he has the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh.

Several high-profile pundits have called for his exit, with Richard Keys urging Rangers to sack Thelwell on two separate occasions.

Derek Ferguson criticised Rangers’ signing of Chermiti, claiming that it was “a baffling decision” and he could not see why the Bears spent so much on him.

However, he has hung on to his job, and has since doubled down on the signature of Portugal Under-21 star, with an absolutely ludicrous claim about the flop.
