OVER the summer, Saints set out to sign high-potential players who are capable of competing in the Championship now. That balance has been missed.

In his first window as technical director, Johannes Spors recruited Joshua Quarshie, Damion Downs and Caspar Jander from the 2.Bundesliga in Germany.

Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber, who masterminded a 3-1 win over Saints on Tuesday, knows the league, and believes the jump between the divisions is vast.

Downs has struggled to impose himself on English football, and Still has pointed out that the 21 year old needs time to adjust, even though Saints are calling out for a number nine.

He was introduced from the bench with just 12 minutes to go against Bristol City in a 3-1 defeat on Tuesday evening, with Still first turning to 18 year old winger Jay Robinson.

Defender Quarshie has been in and out of the team due to injuries and selection decisions, and recently lost his place to Taylor Harwood-Bellis following a minor groin issue.
