Chelsea weren’t successful in their attempts to sign AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan last summer.

The France international is in his final year of contract and there’s been no progress made for his renewal. Recent claims have reported the Blues are still keen and could sign him for free next summer.

Maignan’s situation has seen the Serie A side look for options and they’ve identified Parma’s Zion Suzuki as a target.

Tuttosport, relayed by MilanLive.it, reports the Rossoneri’s negotiations to renew Maignan’s contract have stalled and and unlikely to resume.

Milan like Suzuki the most and sent a scout to watch him live in his side’s goalless draw against Genoa on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Japan international has kept three clean sheets and conceded nine goals from nine matches this season. The report states his performances have attracted interest from several clubs, ‘in particular Chelsea’.

It’s claimed the Club World Cup winners could send a scout to monitor him closely against Como on Saturday. Milan are warned to ‘watch out for Chelsea’. It’s quite possible Enzo Maresca’s side could be looking at Suzuki as an alternative to the Frenchman.
