Nottingham Forest have announced the arrival of Sean Dyche as a replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

Evangelos Marinakis seems to have recognised the Reds operate more effectively with a coach who does not deploy an expansive style of football, given the similarities between Nuno Espirito Santo and the new arrival.

However, Mark Clattenburg – who spent time working at Nottingham Forest in the 2023/24 campaign – cannot envisage Sean Dyche remaining at the City Ground beyond this season.

Speaking on the Beyond The Back Four podcast, the 50-year-old said: “I always felt Nottingham Forest want Marco Silva and he seems to be the popular choice.

“I think Sean Dyche is being used as a stepping stone for Silva at the end of the season. Because we all know Silva hasn’t signed a new contract with Fulham. There’s a huge release clause, clearly Forest didn’t want to pay that release clause, so maybe they’re going to wait and view Dyche as the person that can lead them forward for the next six, seven months.”
