Monday’s edition of Marca have published a detailed interview with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, where he also talks about Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.

On September 21st, Manchester City settled for a 1-1 draw against the Gunners, after Gabriel Martinelli scored a late equaliser.

Prior to to the clash, Guardiola talked about Arsenal and Liverpool’s last summer spendings. The north London club invested over £250m and the Premier League winners around £446.5m.

Guardiola said he was fine with other clubs spending big but also insisted Manchester City are treated differently when it comes to investing on new players.

Marca ask Arteta how he reacted to the Manchester City counterpart’ s comment about spending on signings.

“But there’s a backstory to that, and it comes from the number of questions he’s asked about it. And it’s normal that he had that reaction,” he said.

“I have a specific opinion about why a team might have more or less chances of winning, and I don’t think it’s just because of the spending on signings, but because of other things. I’m not just saying that; the history of football tells you this with many examples.”
