Burnley goalscorer Loum Tchaouna says he was encouraged to shoot from long range after seeing Leeds United goalkeeper Karl Darlow was not set.

The substitute thundered in a 25-yard effort in the 68th-minute to put his side 2-0 up, ultimately wrapping up the game for the hosts. Darlow, yet to keep a clean sheet this season, was starting his fifth straight Leeds game.

There was “no doubt” the Welshman would start the fixture in the mind of Daniel Farke, with Lucas Perri still not match ready despite returning to team training following his quad setback.

Darlow’s loose pass out of play started Burnley’s attacking phase of play which eventually saw them take the lead on 18 minutes through Lesley Ugochukwu. He could do nothing about Tchaouna’s pile-driver, though the scorer says he noticed a lax in concentration from the goalkeeper.
