The Premier League Match Centre have confirmed why Liverpool weren’t awarded a penalty against Manchester United. The Reds fell behind inside the opening 63 seconds after Bryan Mbeumo finished past Giorgi Mamardashvili in front of the Kop.

Referee Oliver waved away the appeals before VAR reviewed the incident and stuck with the on-field decision.

And The Premier League Match Centre have now confirmed: “The referee’s call of no penalty was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed that Amad’s arm was in a natural and justifiable position.”
