It was fantastic to welcome former Arsenal legends to Emirates Stadium for a Show Racism the Red Card workshop.

Each year, we invite Show Racism the Red Card to the Arsenal Hub to deliver educational sessions for primary school children. These workshops help young people understand what racism is and how to stand up against it in society.

The children took part in a range of engaging activities. They created anti-racism posters, discussed the importance of equality and inclusion, and, of course, enjoyed playing football on the Hub pitch afterwards.

When they weren’t on the pitch, the students explored artwork celebrating the first eleven Black women to represent England, which included several Arsenal icons such as Anita Asante, Alex Scott MBE, Rachel Yankey OBE, and Mary Phillip.

In the afternoon, the pupils were joined by four former Arsenal players, Mary Phillip, Rachel Yankey OBE, Perry Groves, and Paul Davis, for a special Q&A session. The players shared personal experiences of racism, discussed what it means to be actively anti-racist, and spoke about the ongoing importance of tackling racism across the game.
