Tottenham, Aston Villa and Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on a young French defender, as interest grows in one of Ligue 1’s most promising teenagers.

France has long been regarded as one of the best breeding grounds for young talent, and Tottenham Hotspur already boast a few emerging names from the country.

Spurs have made it a habit of investing in youth in recent transfer windows. However, last summer hinted at a slight shift in recruitment strategy, with most of Tottenham’s budget spent on experienced players instead of youngsters.

Wilson Odobert and Mathys Tel are both highly rated French Under-21 internationals, but Tottenham are now believed to be monitoring another standout talent developing in Ligue 1.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are one of several Premier League clubs to have sent scouts to monitor 17-year-old Nantes centre-back Tylel Tati.

Tati, who has already made six senior appearances for Nantes this season, is described as a talent “rarely seen” at his age, showcasing maturity and technical composure beyond his years.
