Arsenal and Liverpool strikers Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak were strongly criticised following Sweden’s 2-0 loss to Switzerland in World Cup qualifying.

Sweden’s hopes of reaching the 2026 World Cup hang by a thread after Friday night’s defeat in Stockholm, which leaves them bottom of Group B with one point from three games.

Granit Xhaka and Johan Manzambi got the goals for the Swiss, but it was another night to forget for Gyokeres and Isak who both failed to register a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes.

Isak notably hit the post from a few yards out in the first-half, while Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall was also booed by fans after missing from point-blank range after being teed up by the Liverpool No.9.

Unsurprisingly, Swedish media did not take kindly to their national team’s performance, with Gyokeres, whom Arsenal signed over the summer for £63million, getting the worst treatment.
