Liverpool’s poor performance against Chelsea left fans worried as the international break kicked off.

The Reds lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge against Enzo Maresca’s side, with Estevao Willian scoring the late winner to send the home fans into a frenzy.

It was a game that was once again end-to-end, and that did not go in favour of Arne Slot’s team for a third time in a row that week, with Liverpool fans left questioning what needs to change in the squad.

Fortunately for them, they still sit second in the Premier League, one point behind their title rivals Arsenal, and with the break coming to an end next week, it is an opportunity to get back in form.

However, they have underperformed across all areas of the pitch, especially in defence, where the individual performances have been a cause for concern in terms of letting goals in.

Defensive problems have been the main issue across each of Liverpool’s three losses. In the Chelsea game, their inability to run the clock out and prevent the opposition’s chances caused more trouble than needed.

But changes in the squad, which were forced through injury, caused more problems than had been anticipated for Slot’s team.
