Former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has previously delivered a ringing endorsement of Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner, who has been linked with the Old Trafford hotseat in recent days. Current United boss Ruben Amorim is facing mounting pressure after Saturday's crushing 3-1 defeat at Brentford left his side in freefall.

The Manchester Evening News reported on Monday that Amorim still enjoys the support of United's hierarchy for now, but speculation over his future refuses to go away. The Portuguese tactician has managed to secure just 34 points from a potential 99 in Premier League action since taking the reins. United bosses were compelled to publicly back their manager following last month's Carabao Cup embarrassment against Grimsby Town.

Reports suggest United have drawn up a three-man shortlist of potential successors should Amorim fail to turn things around. Former England boss Gareth Southgate, Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola and Glasner are all reportedly being considered as the pressure intensifies on Amorim to halt United's worrying slide.

Rangnick, who struggled during his own challenging interim tenure at Old Trafford in 2021/22, has previously sung Glasner's praises in glowing terms.
