Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson has claimed that a verdict on the club's 115 financial charges could be close.

The former English champions took part in a hearing before an independent panel on charges of alleged Premier League financial breaches, which ended in December 2024. Newcastle United and all other top-flight teams now await the verdict, with City strongly denying all accusations.

There is widespread speculation about the possible repercussions for the Etihad club if they are found guilty. Predictions range from relegation and financial penalties to points deductions and even the stripping of titles.

And ex-City advisor Borson has shared his latest view on the case. "I think City must be quite close... I think there's been a lot of misinformation about that situation," he said on talkSPORT.

"If you have a 12-week trial, it takes a long time for the decision to come out. In the outside world, it could easily take 12 or 18 months in a High Court equivalent.
